Presentation Assessment Guidelines & hints

Listening and speaking skills for presentation.

  1. Deliver a short clear oral presentation of about a minute or more.
  2. Present a talk of a familiar topic. 
  3. Have an introduction, a body of the topic (and a conclusion if you wish)
  4. Use words like: and, but, so, when and because in your presentation.
  5. Use visual pictures or objects. Use prompt cards.
  6. Use the right vocabulary (words, sentences)
  7. Pronounce the words clearly so that others can understand you.

This talk will be your assessment for CSWE II Module D2. (Please look in your learner guide for this).

Preparation: 
  • What makes an interesting presentation? Use a topic people will find interesting. Learn the content so that you understand it and know the topic well. Find resources from different places e.g. libraries, the Internet, your own knowledge and experience, people you can interview.


Making the presentation

  • Greet the people (for example, 'Good morning, ladies and gentlemen', tell them who you are.)
  1. Make the introduction
  2. Tell them about your topic
  3. Tell them what you have told them
  • Using visual aids, pictures, artifacts/objects


Delivery:

  • Your Voice - how you say it is as important as what you say (speak clearly, loudly, slowly, pause)
  • Body language - look at how you stand, face the audience, don't read, look at people's faces (practice the talk at home)
  • Enjoy giving your talk - have fun and smile.
